It isn't the sort of imagery that organizers of these things would want us to use, but this particular weekend is a "perfect storm" of outdoor arts festivals.

Mayfest will fill much of Main Street in downtown Tulsa through Sunday, with hundreds of artists and performers.

Rivka Galchen for Atmospheric Disturbances

You might not think someone with a name like Rivka Galchen would have spent much time in Oklahoma, but this critically acclaimed author grew up in Norman where her father taught meteorology at OU. Now she is professor of creative writing at Columbia (and an M.D. to boot).  Her debut novel, Atmospheric Disturbances was a New York Times notable book and compared to the likes of Pynchon and Vonnegut.

Cine Series presents Buffalo 66

The downtown Cine Series will hold the second in a series of five free outdoor music and film events this Wednesday. The film is Buffalo 66 (rated R), a black comedy directed by Vincent Gallo, starring Christina Ricci.
